Southampton Wedding Photography
I often underestimate Southampton. Living in the New Forest, I rarely venture into the city that is right on my doorstep. But every time I do I’m reminded of what a vibrant and interesting historical place it is. From the ruins of old abbeys, to the waterfront that has been the shipping powerhouse of the UK for centuries, this city has so much going for it. Plus it’s right on the south coast with views out across Southampton Water, and the solent to the Isle of Wight. It really is a bustling, dynamic city.
Westgate Hall is exactly as it sounds. A venue posted up next to the Westgate of the city in the old walls of Southampton. It has gorgeous old wooden rafters in a vaulted ceiling. It was the perfect setting for Louise and Andy’s intimate wedding. After the ceremony we ventured out onto the wall for some photos before making our way down to the waterfront, and eventually ending up at the Red Lion Inn, a 15th century pub in the centre of the city with its own set of history and character.
The Wedding Day
This summer in Hampshire was a scorcher. We had several weeks of no rain and Louise and Andy’s wedding day was directly in the middle of one of these heat waves in July. Their day played out perfectly, and though it was hot, the smiles and laughter never diminished. Louise looked amazing in her wedding gown. Their 4 boys (yes 4!) were complete show stoppers in their suits and ties, with the smallest 2 even walking mum down the isle. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this special day.
