When I was 18, I was quite active in my hometown sailing community. I’d been involved in sailing since I was 9, and at this time I taught sailing to kids in my local club and in the summertime was out racing 3 nights a week. Shortly after I graduated from high school a friend of mine gave my name to a couple in Seattle who were looking for crew for one of their local races, and that’s how I came to know Ben and Jen. (note: they tell a slightly different story that is longer, and more embarrassing, so since this is my blog I’m going to leave those details out) Since then they both have been close friends of mine and subsequently Eliot’s as well. I jump on and sail with them any chance I get. This past November I was up in the NW photographing a wedding and the following weekend happened to be one of my favorite races. I’d always told Eliot about it, so when Ben and Jen offered us a ride on their boat we decided that sailing around the San Juans in early November was about the most fun thing a couple who lived in FL could do. Needless to say, the last 3 years in Florida have thinned our blood out a bit. But as it always is with Ben and Jen, it was an awesome time.

That way, on their big day, they can focus on each other, and that's when the magic happens. However, these two had no problem in front of my camera. It seemed like they had already done it all before. We got to sneak away from the party for a bit to catch that afternoon light that ...

The Best of 2012
2012 was...:::A whole long list of cliché adjectives that span the emotional spectrum. I'll spare you. If you follow this blog, you probably get the gist.2012 was a learning year for me in terms of my business. One of the most important things being, to stay true to myself and my style, no matter what. It gets tempting to, at times, do what seems to be the "popular" thing. But I've learned that if I focus, and pour my little heart into this, the way I see it developing, eventually it gets noticed and shines. My main source of encouragement come from the people who stop in to this little blog, and cyber whisper some ...

Symmetry and Asymmetry
So this was kind of fun. At first I had a hard time with asymmetry. My instructor had a very specific rule that she wanted us to follow. But these are my five answers to symmetry and asymmetry. Let me know what you think!
