So I was in my home town last month. It’s up in the beautiful pacific north west, and I try to take advantage of as much as I can while I’m there (we just don’t have trees like this in Florida). I asked my little sister if she wanted to go for a walk with me. We had quite a few uncharacteristically sunny days while I was up there. It was so beautiful, but the days were so short. It felt like the sun had just managed to get up into the sky and it was setting again. Regardless I was spoiled.

Here’s my little sister. She has an adventurous spirit and is about to embark on another one. When I look at these photos, especially the close ups I see my older brother. I’m not sure how I turned out so different (I always suspected I was adopted, but too many people tell me I look like my mom, and that I’m just like my dad). As we get older though, I find we have more and more in common.

Here’s Char ::

Yes, I even talked her into doing some jumping photos.

The Day This wedding was so beautiful. I knew it would be. From the moment we got the news that Em and John had gotten engaged, I couldn't picture anything but a spectacular day for them. From what I knew and had heard about Emily, she doesn't do anything half fast. So when she wrote to me, asking if I might possibly photograph it for them, I was thrilled (almost like being asked to shoot the royal wedding thrilled). When these two came out for our wedding in January they spent the whole week up on the mountain with us. I was a bit worried that Emily might change her mind about wanting me to photograph their wedding, because well, I didn't e ...

When I was 18, I was quite active in my hometown sailing community. I'd been involved in sailing since I was 9, and at this time I taught sailing to kids in my local club and in the summertime was out racing 3 nights a week. Shortly after I graduated from high school a friend of mine gave my name to a couple in Seattle who were looking for crew for one of their local races, and that's how I came to know Ben and Jen. (note: they tell a slightly different story that is longer, and more embarrassing, so since this is my blog I'm going to leave those details out) Since then they both have been close friends of mine and subsequently Eliot's as wel ...

 "Things change. And friends leave.  Life doesn't stop for anybody."  -Stephen ChboskyI'm doing it again.  I'm writing a sentimental blog about leaving a place I've come to know as 'home.'  My collection of "homes" is becoming more extensive, and not in the billionaire sort of way.  More in the homesick sort of way.  Places I've been where I've had a community, laughed, made lifelong friends, cooked meals, cried, and moulded my life into.  A place I am going to miss so much I will feel sick over it.  Florida is now one of those places that holds a little piece of my heart.  And it might be the hardest place to leave yet.I can ...
