Southampton Engagement Photographer :: Em and John

Engagement

Something I never really considered all that much before I got married was, the family I’d be becoming a part of. But I have to say, as far as in laws go I couldn’t have hand chosen better ones. Emily is Eliot’s cousin and one of the sweetest people you’d ever meet. Her and John came to our wedding so many of my friends and family now know who she is. Whenever I would tell someone I was going to England to photograph her wedding, I would in some form or another get, “Oh sweet Emily?” So Em, just so you know, you were a hit.

A few days before the wedding we decided to do a little mini session ::

I promise, I will be back tomorrow with this wedding. It was spectacular and I can’t wait to show it. It’s a BIG post.

It's so easy to get caught up in the planning of the wedding and start to lose sight of the real importance and reason for it: Because you want to be together, for the rest of your lives. Everything else about the day should take a back seat to that number one reason. For these two, it took a way back seat. Actually, those things didn't even exist when they got married. It wasn't about the big celebration and gathering of family and friends, it was just about being together. Fast forward to now, and they've decided to have a little celebration in honor of the vows they took several years ago.We got together on an early morning to get to k ...

Autumn New Forest Engagement Photography
You wouldn't know it by looking at these photos, but this shoot nearly got rained out. The day before is when we'd originally scheduled it, and it poured rain from dawn to dusk. We quickly scheduled it for the following day and managed to capture that sweet autumnal glow.I love setting up for engagement shoots. Scouting unique locations is my specialty, and in this area there is no shortage of magnificent backdrops. A broken wall, or a glimmering tree line can completely transform a photograph from your usual portrait into vibrant scene.Meg and Matt were good sports about trekking through forest and fields as well as hopping over a fe ...

Xiamen China Engagement Photography – Diana and Sam
Pre wedding sessions. Awesome locations. Lovely couple. And funky architecture.Sam and Di are good friends who's wedding we celebrated the night before we left China to move here. A gorgeous Hong Kong wedding. But of course, we took some engagement photos a few months beforehand. This was a little mini-sesh, we got together early one morning and explored the area around our city, Xiamen. Since being in Xiamen, whenever we would walk down to the park near the waterfront, we would go under the overpass with all the vines crawling up it, in a very 'life after people' kind of way. I've always wanted to put a couple in a frame there.
