I’m not going to lie, Christmas has kind of taken a back seat this year to other things that are going on. But I still love this time of year and knowing that there is going to be a respite, from work and other things, to spend with family and friends. I like taking part in our local community’s holiday activities that bring people together and I love finding little treasures for people to open on Christmas day. Favorite gift I found this year were these little stamp sets for my niece and Eliot’s god-daughter.

I also really love when I get to reconnect with people who’s photos I’ve taken in the past. One of the biggest compliments is getting called again by previous clients who love your work. Everybody is different and you’ll never hear me say that I can photograph anything. I’ll be the fist to tell you, my work is not for everyone. That’s not what’s important to me. I want to work with people, like Deneen and Pete, who like love my work, and feel a connection to it. Maybe it’s not the best business plan, but it’s important for me to stay true to my style. I always tell people at consultations that it’s better to find someone who’s work your really identify with, than to try and get a photographer to fit into a box.

I spent most of this shoot giggling behind my camera. These two are so fun and they make me love doing what I do. We chat and catch up on the happenings of 2011 and things that have changed since we got together last year. I feel like they’re old friends in a way, and they really make my job easy. They both have fun personalities that compliment one another, and I love when that translates through the lens. Thank you Pete and Deneen, it was so much fun to see you guys again.

This past weekend I did an engagement shoot with this lovely couple. I brought along a special treat, a pack of Impossible Film. I hardly ever use the polaroid camera, because the film for it is so expensive. But thanks to a sweet friend who gifted me a pack of film I was able to use it for this shoot. I love the look of these images and all the imperfections.

I am 100% positive that, no matter how old you are, your parents will love a photo of you more than anything in the world. At least I'm pretty sure. Here we have a photographic family, who I was honored, thrilled, and slightly intimidated when I was asked to do their photos for them. Here's Andrew, Kelly and Kyle ::Hey guys, I'm trying to take a photo, can you just look at me for a second?
Sister, Sister
So I was in my home town last month. It's up in the beautiful pacific north west, and I try to take advantage of as much as I can while I'm there (we just don't have trees like this in Florida). I asked my little sister if she wanted to go for a walk with me. We had quite a few uncharacteristically sunny days while I was up there. It was so beautiful, but the days were so short. It felt like the sun had just managed to get up into the sky and it was setting again. Regardless I was spoiled. Here's my little sister. She has an adventurous spirit and is about to embark on another one. When I look at these photos, especially the close ups I se ...
