New Forest Wedding Photographer :: Holly+Adam in Colorado

couples personal photography wedding

Who could resist a reception with the Colorado mountains as the backdrop? I couldn’t, nor would I when one of my best friends told me that’s where she was having it.

This girl has come to visit Eliot and I in almost every place we’ve lived (not the UK, yet…*hint, hint* Hol). She has an adventurous spirit, and it makes me so happy to see her with someone who’s ideals match hers perfectly.

I’ve known Holly since we were in high school and she’s always been way cooler than me. She was friends with pretty much everyone, girls and guys, and has always had an infectious personality that people just want to be around. She always brings the party (and the water bottle of vodka). She’s also the type of girl who keeps her head on straight, and doesn’t make emotional decisions. It’s always well thought out and carefully considered.

She told me about Adam when she came to visit us out in China, and just by the way she was talking about him, I could tell he was way different than anyone else. She wasn’t going on and on about the flowers and the hearts, it was more about what plans and goals they had made, and what steps they were taking to achieve them, that I knew things were more serious with Adam. It wasn’t gushing about how she knew she was going to marry this guy (that didn’t even come up), but more an acknowledgment that she’d met a partner who shared the same dreams she did. It was effortless and natural.

The only thing I ever want for my girlfriends is to see them happy in life. Holly has always been happy and I’ve never worried about her. But seeing her with Adam up in Colorado revealed an extra sparkle to a girl I didn’t think could possibly shine anymore.

Here’s a couple highlights from the reception in Colorado.

Oh Ash, reading this made me tear up. It meant to world to us to have you and your beautiful little family make the journey to Colorado, and it was such an honor to have you capture the weekend on film. Your photos are so beautiful and truly bring out the essence of what I felt throughout the celebration. I am a lucky lady to have such wonderful, talented friends. Miss you all so much! xoxo

New Forest Family Photography :: Louise + Nathan + Jocelyn
This sweet family happens to our neighbours and friends. We are often given fresh eggs from their chickens. Little Jocelyn was born about 3 weeks before Cavanaugh, and Louise and I have spent many days commiserating celebrating as we navigate new motherhood together. It's so much easier with friends (and lots of coffee and cake). Being right in the forest is a photographer's dream, there is an endless choice of whimsical places. These images were taken in the field behind Louise and Nathan's house, and their fairytale back garden.

Cavanaugh
(kav-eh-na) A boy. A lovely, sweet cheeked, kissable baby boy. It's been 4 weeks since this guy came onto the scene, and I would be a liar to try to describe it as complete bliss. It has come with A LOT of challenges that neither one of us were prepared for at all. But we love this little person more than I can describe. When I was about 22 weeks pregnant we went for the anatomy scan where they check all the vital organs and you can find out the sex of your baby if you choose. At this scan we found out that our little person (not yet knowing if he was a boy or a girl) had a problem with one of his kidneys. This triggered othe ...

Self Portrait : About Me
My first assignment in my new photography class (Black and White II) was to do a self portrait. I definitely had struggles with this assignment, because I don't particularly like looking at photos of myself. But the purpose was to reveal something about yourself within these portraits. In the spirit of self portraits, I thought I might also add some things about me. This thing was floating around on facebook a few months ago, it's called "25 Random Things About Me." I thought it would be fun to add in addition to my portraits.1. I'm a student, living in Florida and studying photography.2. I'm from the Pacific Northwest which I believe is ...
