New Forest Wedding Photographer :: Holly+Adam in Colorado

couples personal photography wedding

Who could resist a reception with the Colorado mountains as the backdrop? I couldn’t, nor would I when one of my best friends told me that’s where she was having it.

This girl has come to visit Eliot and I in almost every place we’ve lived (not the UK, yet…*hint, hint* Hol). She has an adventurous spirit, and it makes me so happy to see her with someone who’s ideals match hers perfectly.

I’ve known Holly since we were in high school and she’s always been way cooler than me. She was friends with pretty much everyone, girls and guys, and has always had an infectious personality that people just want to be around. She always brings the party (and the water bottle of vodka). She’s also the type of girl who keeps her head on straight, and doesn’t make emotional decisions. It’s always well thought out and carefully considered.

She told me about Adam when she came to visit us out in China, and just by the way she was talking about him, I could tell he was way different than anyone else. She wasn’t going on and on about the flowers and the hearts, it was more about what plans and goals they had made, and what steps they were taking to achieve them, that I knew things were more serious with Adam. It wasn’t gushing about how she knew she was going to marry this guy (that didn’t even come up), but more an acknowledgment that she’d met a partner who shared the same dreams she did. It was effortless and natural.

The only thing I ever want for my girlfriends is to see them happy in life. Holly has always been happy and I’ve never worried about her. But seeing her with Adam up in Colorado revealed an extra sparkle to a girl I didn’t think could possibly shine anymore.

Here’s a couple highlights from the reception in Colorado.

Oh Ash, reading this made me tear up. It meant to world to us to have you and your beautiful little family make the journey to Colorado, and it was such an honor to have you capture the weekend on film. Your photos are so beautiful and truly bring out the essence of what I felt throughout the celebration. I am a lucky lady to have such wonderful, talented friends. Miss you all so much! xoxo

Engagement Photos- Ashley and Eliot
So as mentioned in a previous blog about my upcoming wedding, we're on a budget and are doing things ourselves wherever and whenever we can.  We feel like 'save the dates' are important to send out too, because many people will be traveling from so far away.  But we don't really want to have them printed and then posted, and well, with the magics of current day technology we see 'save the dates' via email as a better way to go about it. We also decided to take our own photos... Definitely not as easy as having someone else take them for you.  Probably took a lot longer than it should have done.  Probably argued more than necessary. (Not ...

Turning 28
My 28th birthday was really wonderful. It landed on a Thursday, so the weekend before my husband planned a trip for us to go to Hong Kong to celebrate. Compared to mainland China, Hong Kong is like going on a little European holiday. It was nice getting a little break from the craziness, eating great food, and drinking delicious wine. On my actual birthday, the 3rd of April, I woke up at my normal time, 6:30. Yes, it's early. However, I've gotten really used to it and I love being awake early with the whole day in front of me. And I can drink my coffee slowly, watch the day begin from our 10th story apartment, have breakfast, and my ...

Sister, Sister
So I was in my home town last month. It's up in the beautiful pacific north west, and I try to take advantage of as much as I can while I'm there (we just don't have trees like this in Florida). I asked my little sister if she wanted to go for a walk with me. We had quite a few uncharacteristically sunny days while I was up there. It was so beautiful, but the days were so short. It felt like the sun had just managed to get up into the sky and it was setting again. Regardless I was spoiled. Here's my little sister. She has an adventurous spirit and is about to embark on another one. When I look at these photos, especially the close ...
