New Forest Wedding Photographer :: Holly+Adam in Colorado

couples personal photography wedding

Who could resist a reception with the Colorado mountains as the backdrop? I couldn’t, nor would I when one of my best friends told me that’s where she was having it.

This girl has come to visit Eliot and I in almost every place we’ve lived (not the UK, yet…*hint, hint* Hol). She has an adventurous spirit, and it makes me so happy to see her with someone who’s ideals match hers perfectly.

I’ve known Holly since we were in high school and she’s always been way cooler than me. She was friends with pretty much everyone, girls and guys, and has always had an infectious personality that people just want to be around. She always brings the party (and the water bottle of vodka). She’s also the type of girl who keeps her head on straight, and doesn’t make emotional decisions. It’s always well thought out and carefully considered.

She told me about Adam when she came to visit us out in China, and just by the way she was talking about him, I could tell he was way different than anyone else. She wasn’t going on and on about the flowers and the hearts, it was more about what plans and goals they had made, and what steps they were taking to achieve them, that I knew things were more serious with Adam. It wasn’t gushing about how she knew she was going to marry this guy (that didn’t even come up), but more an acknowledgment that she’d met a partner who shared the same dreams she did. It was effortless and natural.

The only thing I ever want for my girlfriends is to see them happy in life. Holly has always been happy and I’ve never worried about her. But seeing her with Adam up in Colorado revealed an extra sparkle to a girl I didn’t think could possibly shine anymore.

Here’s a couple highlights from the reception in Colorado.

Round the County 2012
When I was 18, I was quite active in my hometown sailing community. I'd been involved in sailing since I was 9, and at this time I taught sailing to kids in my local club and in the summertime was out racing 3 nights a week. Shortly after I graduated from high school a friend of mine gave my name to a couple in Seattle who were looking for crew for one of their local races, and that's how I came to know Ben and Jen. (note: they tell a slightly different story that is longer, and more embarrassing, so since this is my blog I'm going to leave those details out) Since then they both have been close friends of mine and subsequently Eliot's as w ...

Southampton Engagement Photography :: A Stockholm Engagement
Wow, I'm a bit embarrassed. I have probably sat down to start a blog, a dozen time since my last post. Even now as I write this, I'm wondering if it will actually make it to being published and killing my 3 months of silence in this space. I'll try to rationalize it in another post, this one is meant for much greater things. The last stop on our European road-trip was Sweden. I am in love with Sweden. Such a beautiful and amazing place, and I'm lucky enough to have a cousin who lives in Stockholm with her fiancé. Let me just say, exploring a new city while doing an engagement session, has to be one of the best ways to see it. (Remember thi ...

Southampton Boudoir Photographer :: PX70
Working on editing the digital part of this shoot, but thought I would share the instant shots I got using Impossible Project PX70 Color Protection and B&W film packs. Also excited to be using the new VSCO film pack for editing the digital files, which now has over 115 film emulations which are inspired by Polaroid, Fuji and The Impossible Project. This girl's world just got a little bit cooler.
