Southampton Wedding Photography :: Emily and John

Film portraits wedding

This wedding was so beautiful. I knew it would be. From the moment we got the news that Em and John had gotten engaged, I couldn’t picture anything but a spectacular day for them. From what I knew and had heard about Emily, she doesn’t do anything half fast. So when she wrote to me, asking if I might possibly photograph it for them, I was thrilled (almost like being asked to shoot the royal wedding thrilled). When these two came out for our wedding in January they spent the whole week up on the mountain with us. I was a bit worried that Emily might change her mind about wanting me to photograph their wedding, because well, I didn’t exactly have my “I’m A Professional” hat on that week (not that I ever really do). But I got to know her and John so much more that week, and luckily nobody changed their mind 🙂

The day did not disappoint. E&J are the perfect combination of being incredibly creative, and very organized. They had planned everything out perfectly, and even got the weather to cooperate. One of my favorite parts of the day was the Ceilidh band that lead everyone in the barn dancing. It was incredibly lively and got everyone out on the dance floor.

I shot with both digital and film for this day (4 cameras), and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of my husband. He did everything from helping find locations, carrying cameras, switching out film, and being a second shooter. I love shooting film, but it definitely takes more time and work, and requires another pair of hands. I was so thankful he was there so I could “have it all” and get the shots I wanted.

Here’s Emily and John, as husband and wife ::

Essential for every English wedding, I would imagine.

Last minute fixings.

I love what my Holga captured that day.

And it starts…

It was amazing. Thanks Em and John for making us a part of it all.

And thanks to Eliot, some of the images above are his.

Love Shoot – The New Forest
"What on earth is a Love Shoot?" my husband asked me... Well it's when a couple want to have photos done of themselves, just the two of them, for no other reason other than they want to do it. Maybe they're married and they have kids who generally take centre stage in everything, including photos. Or maybe they're not married, but they're tired of the same old selfie pose they have of the two of them together (you know the one, sitting in the car with big cheesy smiles). A Love Shoot is basically an engagement shoot without the responsibility of having to be engaged. It's a day away from everything and spending time with just your love, and h ...

New Forest Wedding Photographer :: Holly+Adam in Colorado
Who could resist a reception with the Colorado mountains as the backdrop? I couldn't, nor would I when one of my best friends told me that's where she was having it. This girl has come to visit Eliot and I in almost every place we've lived (not the UK, yet...*hint, hint* Hol). She has an adventurous spirit, and it makes me so happy to see her with someone who's ideals match hers perfectly. I've known Holly since we were in high school and she's always been way cooler than me. She was friends with pretty much everyone, girls and guys, and has always had an infectious personality that people just want to be around. She always br ...
