Southampton Engagement Photography :: Kevin and Jess

couples Engagement portraits

This couple strikes a personal cord, because well, Kevin and Jess are good friends. I’ve known Kevin as long as I’ve known Eliot, and he even came all the way out to Oregon for our wedding. Jess is his beautiful fiance, and they met while working together on super yachts (yes the big ones, and no, not cruise ships). I was giddy when they called and asked me to do their engagement photos. It’s exciting to have a little part in someones wedding experience, especially when they’re good friends. They came from the east coast of Florida to spend the weekend, we’d love for them to move to the west coast. We spent an afternoon getting these:

Loved this little shack.

Thanks you guys for an awesome weekend.

I always try my best, no matter what, to get a couple in front of my camera before their wedding day. Not everyone is used to having a camera pointing at them, and it's often really hard to not go into "cheese" mode when it is. Getting a couple in front of the camera before their wedding day, helps me to coach them a bit and get used to my style of photography. That way, on their big day, they can focus on each other, and that's when the magic happens. However, these two had no problem in front of my camera. It seemed like they had already done it all before. We got to sneak away from the party for a bit to catch that afternoon light that ...

Deneen and Peter: The Holidays
So you know when you meet a couple and you walk away thinking "wow, those two are so perfect for eachother."  They compliment eachother, they radiate back and forth from one another, and they're so happy together.  This is just another reason I love doing this.  Getting to meet people which such positive energy, who are fun to be around and effortless in front of the camera (despite what Peter may think).  And it makes the shoot more relaxed when you feel like you can really relate to the people in front of your lens. The highlight of the shoot was getting kicked off the little kiddie train because I kept turning around to take photos of t ...

Stockholm Wedding
Being able to use my camera and photograph new places and spaces is one of the biggest joys in this profession. Every time I visit a new place, I find these subtle little beauties, and I wish I had my camera on hand. I normally settle for an iPhone shot and post it up on Instagram with a chic filter and call it good. But when I get to travel for a wedding, camera in hand, it’s one of the most rewarding times in my job. This Stockholm wedding is no different. The day was filled with so many sweet little traditions and details. Alexis and Magnus clearly spent so much time refining it all and creating a day that truly reflected who they are and ...
