Southampton Engagement Photography :: Mike and Sue

couples Engagement lifestyle portraits wedding

So a while back I was taking a Portrait Photography class and was in desperate need for some models to pose for me. It was a very “traditional portrait” studio class (nothing like what I ever wanted to do or do now, but nevertheless a good learning experience). Mike and Sue graciously agreed to help me out and sit for me while I took awkward, overly posed photos of them (“yes, it’s very important you tilt your head exactly that way, otherwise I might fail” kind of stuff). As you can imagine, those photos never and will never surface on the web. It’s to protect all three of us, I promise.

But I was really happy when got engaged and asked me to take their engagement photos. It gave me the opportunity to show them what I was really capable of. All these photos were actually taken in my little neighborhood, so it’s a good look into Ozona as well.

Southampton Engagement Photography :: Kerry & Jonas
I met Kerry the first night I arrived in China, after a long Chinese dinner and a ride on the back of a motorbike, through the busy streets of Fuyang, with a South African guy I had met just a few hours previously. (In case you think that's not the best decision I've ever made, I can promise you that it's not the worst.) She's been an easy person to keep up with, because every once in a while, we find ourselves in the same corner of the world again. This time, it was in London, and she had just gotten engaged to Jonas. She's American, he's German and they have such an amazing outlook on life, and this world. Eliot and I had an awesome day ...

Little Darlings :: Ava and Ivy
I got to spend a morning chasing around two beautiful little girls.  Both talk a mile a minute, love playing on swings, fishing and each other.  They really are so sweet and are constantly looking out for one another.  This was the day after they had a joint birthday party, so there was lots to tell and share.  Ava is the older girl and loves little sister Ivy.  Meet these two little darlings. Gorgeous girl. The whole time I was taking photos, Ava was begging me to take one too.  This one is her doing, pretty good I think. "Ashley! Take a picture of my baby!" Yes, her baby's blanket is a....lid? ...

Southampton Wedding Photography :: Emily and John
This wedding was so beautiful. I knew it would be. From the moment we got the news that Em and John had gotten engaged, I couldn't picture anything but a spectacular day for them. From what I knew and had heard about Emily, she doesn't do anything half fast. So when she wrote to me, asking if I might possibly photograph it for them, I was thrilled (almost like being asked to shoot the royal wedding thrilled). When these two came out for our wedding in January they spent the whole week up on the mountain with us. I was a bit worried that Emily might change her mind about wanting me to photograph their wedding, because well, I didn't exactly ha ...
